Kargil Vijay Diwas 2023: From Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan to Nimrat Kaur, celebrities pay tribute to Indian soldiers

Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on July 26 to commemorate the victory and valour of the Indian soldiers who fought and sacrificed their lives in the 1999 Kargil War. The war, which lasted for more than two months, ended with India successfully evicting the Pakistani infiltrators from the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The day is also a tribute to the families of the martyrs who stood by them with courage and pride.

On this occasion, many celebrities took to their social media platforms to salute the bravery and patriotism of the Indian army and remember their remarkable contributions. Some of them also shared their experiences of playing war heroes on screen and how it inspired them to respect and honour the real-life heroes.

Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar, who has played several patriotic roles in films like Kesari, Airlift, Holiday and Rustom, shared a heart-warming tweet to commemorate the brave hearts who were martyred in 1999. “With gratitude in heart and prayer on the lips, remembering our brave hearts who attained martyrdom in Kargil War. We live because of you," he wrote.

Yuvraj Singh:

Cricketer Yuvraj Singh wrote, “The real tribute we can pay to our nation’s brave hearts is by never forgetting their sacrifice. Saluting the selfless courage of all the individuals and their families who ensured India’s flag continues to soar with pride."

Abhishek Bachchan:

Abhishek Bachchan, who stepped into the shoes of Captain Vikram Batra in LOC: Kargil, shared "Saluting the bravery of our Kargil warriors on Vijay Diwas! #KargilVijayDiwas"

Nimrat Kaur:
