Kareena Kapoor reveals why she got married to Saif Ali Khan after 5 years of live-in relationship

Kareena Kapoor Khan has been married to Saif Ali Khan for more than a decade now. The Bollywood actors exchanged wedding vows on October 16, 2012. Before they got married, the duo was in a live-in relationship for five years. In her new interview with The Dirty Magazine, Bebo mentioned she and Saif decided to tie the knot because they wanted to have children. They are blessed with two boys - Taimur and Jeh.

Here's why Kareena and Saif got married

Kareena was blessed with her first child, Taimur, in 2016 and the actress welcomed her second baby boy, Jeh, in 2021.

Opening up about her and Saif's decision to tie the knot, the actress told the magazine, "The reason you get married now is that you want to have a child, right? I mean today otherwise, you can just live together. [Saif and I] lived together for five years, so when we took the next step, it was because we wanted to have children."

Bebo further revealed how she treats her two young kids. "We treat them as individuals, we respect them, and we just let them be. They will figure it out, they will find their own path. Kids are quite resilient, you know. I want to live my life in front of my kids, I want to do everything with them. We have to be happy na, then they will flourish. I’m responsible for my own mental health first," she added.

On the work front for Kareena

Meanwhile, on the work front, Kareena was last seen in Jaane Jaan with Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat. The Sujoy Ghosh film marked the actress' OTT debut film. It was released on Netflix. Bebo's film, The Buckingham Murders, was also screened at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. It has been directed by Hansal Mehta.

Apart from the aforementioned movie, Kareena has Rhea Kapoor's The Crew lined up for release. She will be seen sharing screen space with Tabu and Kriti Sanon in the film. She will be seen in Rohit Shetty's Singham Again as well. The actress will be seen alongside Ajay Devgn in the movie.
