Back in 2014, Karan Johar introduced the world to Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. The movie featured Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles after Student of The Year. It starred Sidharth Shukla as the second male lead. The movie became such a big hit that it inspired Badrinath Ki Dulhania, thus turning the movie into a whole franchise – the Dulhania franchise. There has been no update on Dulhania 3 since Badrinath Ki Dulhania released in 2017 and Varia fans are excited to know if it is even happening. Karan has now shared an update on the same.
What Karan said
During his time with Pinkvilla, Karan shared that he does wish to the take the franchise forward. However, he is not working on it currently. “I don’t know how to plan these things. We do want to make the third Dulhania film and I hope we will at some point. It’s a love story franchise, that actually doesn’t exist. It’s only us that made it. Humpty, Badri and now we are looking forward to making another Dulhania film,” the filmmaker shared.
Karan did, however, share that he is working on a few franchise films but did not wish to reveal any further. He confirmed not wanting to make K3G 2, since the story ended with the first film.
Directing an action film next
Karan also shared that he will be directing an action film next. The filmmaker had helmed the recently released Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahanii. The movie featured Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles.
What is he up to this moment?
Karan Johar is currently a part of the National Awards being held in New Delhi. He is among the invitees and is there for the prestigious ceremony along with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Allu Arjun and Kriti Sanon.
On the work front, Karan will next be seen hosting his chat show, Koffee With Karan. The show will be season 8 and is likely to have Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana, Kiara Advani, Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Allu Arjun, Jr. NTR and Ram Charan among others as guests on the show.
