Karan Johar reveals the enigma of Ranveer Singh; discusses the actor's transformative talent in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani

The first collaboration between Karan Johar and Ranveer Singh created fireworks on screen, and despite being more than two months after its theatrical release, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is still the talk of the town. During a recent interaction, the filmmaker revealed that the actor is a guy of many guises. Karan also delved into the dichotomy that characterises the actor, illuminating depths beyond the limelight persona of Ranveer.

Ranveer Singh's multifaceted approach to acting

While talking to Midday, Karan explained Ranveer's unique method of approaching his roles. He said that the actor has an unrivalled dedication to being himself. According to Karan, Ranveer prefers a specific vibe to be created on set for anything he's filming. The actor has extremely specific requirements, such as a steady eyeline and a quiet set. KJo also shared that Ranveer won't be able to provide his best effort even if something is happening a kilometre away; make sure he is okay with that before proceeding. Karan added that one can't help but be impressed by his transformation from Ranveer to Rocky Randhawa and back again throughout the day when he's on camera and delivering. Interestingly, Ranveer kept up the Rocky impression all day long during the shoot.

Ranveer's time on Delhi streets

Karan also related an interesting anecdote about Ranveer's acting training. The actor spent a lot of time in the streets of Delhi and with local influencers and content makers to get a feel for his character's environment. The filmmaker reflected on the time spent scouting places by saying that Ranveer sat with him for nearly a month when he was scouring locations; the actor travelled right through West Delhi and met all these Instagrammers and West Delhi influencers. Ranveer spent a lot of time just wandering around Delhi to get a sense of the place. KJo also said that all of these things were completely unnecessary, yet the actor wanted them nonetheless.
