Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar's friendship shows that they are one true family. Having known each other for nearly three decades, the actor-filmmaker duo has worked with each other many times and shares a brotherhood kind of relationship. Now, Karan revealed that during their professional collaboration, "money exchange" was never a topic of discussion. He also revealed that SRK hasn't taken money for his cameo appearances in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil or Brahmastra.
A lifelong friendship
Speaking about their bond, Karan told Mid Day, "Shah Rukh's journey and my journey kind of went off... I was the assistant director; his stardom was raised in 1993. Adi, Shah Rukh, and I are friends. With that superstardom energy, I have seen Shah Rukh's entire growth in front of me and felt it as a part of me. But I didn't meet him as a movie star; I met him as this young, vibrant actor with so much promise."
No money talk
Talking about "monetary" conversation, the filmmaker went on to reveal, "Neither for Brahmastra; he shot for 14 days; that's our relationship. With Shah Rukh, there's no such thing as money exchange. Between what I do and what he does, there's no money involved. I don't think he has ever asked me for money for a film he has done. Whatever is given, is given. Our contract with Shah Rukh says, 'It's a pleasure to work with you; thank you so much.' We don't have a contract with him, and I don't have any detailed papers."
Karan added, "Whatever is said and done, he expects it from me. I remember when he was shooting for Ra.One, he had a double unit. He called me to shoot for six days because Anubhav was doing big action and he needed some simple, like patchwork scenes. I flew from Bombay and did it; these are not big deals in our relationships."
