Karan Johar on KWK 8 REVEALS how he and Manish Malhotra were almost paired up romantically with Aditya Chopra and Anil Thadani

Today’s episode of Koffee with Karan season 8 was one of the best episodes of the popular chat show for all the right reasons. Bollywood’s legendary actress and Karan Johar’s long-time industry friends Rani Mukerji and Kajol graced the famous KWK couch in the sixth episode. With lots of laughs and emotional moments, this episode is definitely hitting the nostalgic lane for the audience as the duo reappeared on the talk show after nearly 16 years.   

Karan Johar reveals a BTS of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Filmmaker Karan Johar revealed a hilarious back story of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai's shooting days. During a candid conversation with the two “Chatterjees,” as he quipped them in the introduction, Karan Johar narrated an incident that happened in London.

Recollecting his nostalgic memories as his iconic film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai completed 25 years this year, the witty host remembered the time he and fashion designer Manish Malhotra went shopping in the UK and how an awkward misunderstanding about homosexual couples culminated into a hilarious memory.   

Telling the funniest story, he said, “Adi was setting up Yash Raj Films in the UK, and Anil Thadani at that time was his partner. So, we had taken an apartment with two bedrooms at that time because I was shopping with Manish and they were setting up the Yash Raj office.”  

The 51-year-old host described in detail how a Londoner once looked at the four men with a cute romantic lens. He said, “So the guy who was the concierge of that building of that building at one point looked at Adi and Anil”.. Because first in the morning, Adi and Anil in corporate clothes used to leave. And then me and Manishb with our shopping bags, used to go. So..the concierge had said to Adi once, “You all are both such lovely couple.” Both the cousins cracked with laughter and Kajol even wittingly added, “You all take such good care of your husbands.”

This incident added to the memories of KKHH days and the host added, “We looked like our husbands are going to work and we are the wives who go shopping and waste their money.” Adi Chopra’s now wife and actress Rani Mukerji said amid the laugh, “Stop it!!” and she burst into laughter. He later revealed the shock on Aditya Chopra’s face as this tale dates back to the 1997 year with a different universe. The Dharma head also added that he was curious to know who the concierge thought was his husband and said, “I was like, I want Adi then. It was hilarious.”  

The fun-filled episode is streaming on the eighth season of Koffee with Karan on Disney+Hotstar.
