Karan Johar calls Shah Rukh Khan ‘wizard of words,’ says he has ‘koffee’ with him every night

Karan Johar had one of the most popular seasons of his chat show, Koffee With Karan. While many celebrities graced his show this season, one big name, who made waves throughout the year, was missing. That person is none other than King Khan aka Shah Rukh Khan. We all missed seeing SRK on Koffee With Karan but for the TV host, it wasn’t the same feeling.

During a recent event, Karan was asked if he missed Shah Rukh Khan this season like everyone did, Karan Johar said that he did not ask SRK this season because if he did, the superstar would never say no. Reiterating that SRK is family, Karan said that he didn’t want to put the superstar in a dilemma and thus, he would pick and choose who he calls on his show. Thus, SRK was not there this season, for a reason.

KJo shared, “I just know that if there is any megastar who has earned his right to speak when he needs to is Shah Rukh Khan. I, of all the people, have been his closest friend and family and should understand that. I have that leverage, because he is family to me, I can ask him and request him and he has never said no to me. So, I never asked. Because I know he didn't want to be in that situation of dilemma, where he has to say no to me. I pick and choose what I ask for.”

Calling SRK the ‘wizard of words,’ Karan stated that the superstar is a person who talks only when he wishes to. The filmmaker-host shared, “He (SRK) is somebody who matters the world to me, he is family to me, he is my older brother, he is everything. I know when the right time is there, I will ask him. And I know when he would want to speak, he will. When he does, it'll be extraordinary because no one gives interviews better than Shah Rukh Khan. Nobody speaks better than him. When he speaks on a global platform or a national platform, he is just the wizard of words. He is truly the emperor not just on screen but (also) off screen. There’s a lot of collective love for him, because of the man he has been to us off screen.”

Finally, Karan said that he has ‘koffee’ with Shah Rukh every night and thus, he doesn’t miss him in that sense. “I understand why you might miss him, but I'm satiated because he's a big, huge part of my existence,” he said in conclusion.
