Kanya Kumari - Pushpaka Vimanam director Damodara, actress Geeth Saini reunite for a wacky rural entertainer

Director Damaodara won praise from critics for his unique take on the marriage system with his debut Pushpaka Vimanam, that starred Anand Deverakonda, Geeth Saini, Saanve Megghana in key roles. Besides screenwriting and direction, he is now turning a producer (Radical Pictures) with his next release - Kanya Kumari, a rural entertainer where he reunites with Geeth Saini.

Sree Charan Rachakonda plays the male lead in the film whose teaser was launched today by Vijay Deverakonda (who produced Pushpaka Vimanam). The glimpse begins with a rural woman asking Kanya Kumari about the time on her watch, the latter plays her down to respond ‘as if you need to attend a meeting!’ Geeth, in a titular character, plays a small-time worker at a sari shop.

She is the cynosure of all eyes while searching for the right bridegroom. Her childhood friend suddenly finds Kanya Kumari attractive and chases her to win her attention. There’s a funny sequence where Kanya asks if a potential bridegroom is wearing a wig. Her parents request the girl to consider the proposal given the family is not demanding a dowry.

The teaser ends with Geeth’s long monologue, where she shares a list of all types of saris available at the shop. Like the title suggests, the story revolves around a spinster and her troubles while seeking the right partner. The wacky rural ambience, the flavourful writing and Geeth’s expressions are major highlights of the teaser. The release date will be announced shortly.

Ravi Nidamarthy scores the music for the film which has two cinematographers - Shiva Gajula and Hari Charan K. Naresh Adupa is the editor while Sateesh Reddy Chintha, Vareenia Mamidi, Appala Naidu Attada, Sidharth A are the co-producers. Nagarjuna Thallapalli is the sound designer. Damodara’s previous film Pushpaka Vimanam can be streamed on aha.
