Kantara Hindi review: Audiences hail Rishab Shetty’s film as a ‘force of nature’ that’s not to be missed

Kantara – actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty’s representation of the culture and traditions of coastal Karnataka, especially the practice of revering demigods, has been setting the box office on fire since it released in its official Kannada version (with English subtitles), across the globe. Such has been the interest in the film that it is the highest rated film on ticketing site bookmyshow and movie database IMDB too.

The level of craze for the film had got the makers, Hombale Films, who were planning to dub it into other languages only in time for the OTT release, to reconsider this and bring it out in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam too. The Hindi version released in theatres today, and while critics who got to see it earlier have already been gushing about the ‘divine blockbuster’, audiences who caught it first day first show were no less enthralled.

Social media is abuzz with posts from people who caught the Hindi version, which released in a whopping 2500+ screens today. Anil Thadani, a long-time associate of Hombale Films is presenting the film in its Hindi version, which, interestingly has close to 100 shows in a city like Bengaluru too.

Kantara, which has music by B Ajaneesh Loknath and cinematography by Aravind S Kashyap, both of which are highlights of the film, also stars Sapthami Gowda, Kishore and Achyuth Kumar, among others, in pivotal roles. The film is already enroute to eclipsing the box office records of KGF: Chapter 1 and James in its Kannada version.

Industry experts reckon that with the other language versions, which are likely to be lapped up as well by audiences, it’s lifetime collection will be better than that of KGF: Chapter 1.
