Mammootty, who is starring in the much talked-about police procedural Kannur Squad, has shared a heartfelt note thanking the audience for their overwhelming response to the movie. Despite heavy rains in Kerala, the film has performed well on its initial days of release. Much like the Malayalam superstar’s recent releases, Kannur Squad was not heavily promoted. But despite that, it has left a positive mark at the box office.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mammootty expressed his gratitude towards the entire team of Kannur Squad for their hard work. He acknowledged the positive reviews and feedback the team has received, and said that those have filled their hearts with joy. He also thanked the viewers for their love and support towards the film.
Produced by Mammootty Kampany, the movie was made with a budget of approximately ₹30 crore. The shoot was a challenging process for the makers, who had to travel to various locations, under harsh weather conditions, to complete the filming. The movie features sequences shot in Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
Kannur Squad is inspired by true events
Kannur Squad is an investigative drama that resembles the plot of movies like Kuttavum Shikshayum and Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru. The film follows four police officers in their pursuit of some offenders, who committed a crime in Kasargod district of Kerala. According to the makers, only 20% of the narrative is fictional. The title of the movie is the name of an actual wing, operating under the Kerala Police Force.
