Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is the latest addition to an already star-studded cast of the upcoming Telugu movie Kannappa. Led by Vishnu Manchu, the mythological drama will be only the second South Indian production in Akshay's career.
In 2018, Akshay made his debut in South cinema with director Shankar's science-fiction film 2.0. A sequel to the 2010 blockbuster Enthiran, the film saw Akshay essaying the role of the main antagonist and going toe-to-toe with Superstar Rajinikanth's Chitti.
Kannappa will mark Akshay's official return to South Indian cinema, which has drastically grown in stature among the fans of Hindi cinema in the last few years.
Kannappa is one of the most ambitious movies in Vishnu Manchu's career. He is making significant investments to ensure that it reaches every nook and corner of the country. Vishnu Manchu, who is also overseeing the film's production, has roped in big stars from across the Indian film industry.
While Akshay represents the Hindi film industry, Kannappa also boasts Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and Telugu superstar Prabhas. The film also features a star-studded supporting cast, including Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, Prabhudeva, Aishwariyaa Bhaskaran, and Devaraj, to name a few.
Kannappa has generated quite an interest among movie buffs thanks to its growing list of star cast. In the meantime, Vishnu seems to be going the extra mile to ensure that this film turns out to be the defining film of his career.

Kannappa is a mythological story about a devotee of Lord Shiva. It's one of the most popular and well-known stories that tell the legend of Lord Shiva. Vishnu plays the titular role. The first-look poster revealed Vishnu's look as an archer, promising a visual spectacle.
Besides playing the lead role, Vishnu has also penned the film's screenplay and is also producing it. The film is helmed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and is expected to hit the screens later this year.
