Kannagi trailer – Ammu Abhirami, Keerthi Pandian, Vidhya Pradeep and Shalin Zoya promise an intriguing tale

Kannagi, the upcoming social thriller that features Ammu Abhirami, Keerthi Pandian, Vidhya Pradeep, and Shalin Zoya in the lead roles, is gearing up for its theatrical release. The project, which is helmed by Yashwanth Kishore, has already created quite a stir on social media with its promising posters. Now, ahead of the film’s release, the makers of Kannagi dropped the official trailer of the film, on social media.

Kannagi trailer is out

The intriguing trailer of Kannagi hints that the social thriller revolves around the lives of four women from different areas of society. Ammu Abhirami plays the role of a young woman who is forced by her family to deck up for the many potential grooms who come to meet her. However, her life turns upside down, after her marriage gets fixed finally. Keerthi Pandian appears as a young woman who decides to have an illegal abortion, despite crossing the fourth month of pregnancy.

Shalin Zoya has been cast in the role of a young woman who decides to not settle for matrimony and opts to have the freedom and companionship of a live-in relationship. But, eventually, she is judged by both society and her partner, for the same. Vidhya Pradeep, on the other hand, essays the role of a young wife who is forced by her husband to have a divorce. She opts to fight against this injustice and takes a legal route.

From the trailer, it is unclear if Kannagi is a full-length feature film that interconnects the lives of these four women, or an anthology that is separated into four segments. The trailer promises that the multi-starrer is going to be a riveting cinematic experience that will have some stellar performances by its leading cast. But at the same time, the treatment of the trailer does remind us of some famous women-centric films and anthologies, that were produced by the Tamil film industry in the past.
