Recently, ZEE5 announced Kanjoos Makhichoos, a forthcoming direct-to-digital movie. Kunal Kemmu, Shweta Tripathi, Piyush Mishra, Alka Amin, Rajiv Gupta, and the late Raju Srivastav all play important roles in the comedy-drama that Vipul Mehta wrote and directed. It will premiere on a streaming platform on March 24, 2023.
In the interesting comedic drama Kanjoos Makhichoos, the story of Jamnaprasad Pandey (Kunal Kemmu), a famous miser in the town of Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, is told. His wife Madhuri (Shweta Tripathi), son Krish, and parents Gangaprasad Pandey (Piyush Mishra) and Saraswati Pandey (Alka Amin) are tired of Jamna's frugal ways. Jamnaprasad doesn't waste a single cent. For example, each person gets one pail for bathing, and one agarbatti is used for the whole month. The rest of the family doesn't know that Jamna has been saving money so that his father can go on a Char-Dhaam Yatra, which has been his dream for a long time.
Jamna is happy that he fulfilled his father's wish, but his happiness doesn't last long because heavy rains and flooding cut him off from his family. When a person is gone for more than 25 days, the government deems them deceased and pays a compensation of Rs. 7 lakhs for each missing individual, which amounts to Rs. 14 lakhs for Jamna's parents. But by the time the funds reach Jamnaprasad, they have been reduced to Rs. 10 lakhs since middle-level government employees divided Rs. 4 lakhs of the funds among themselves. Jamna is angry that he has been taken advantage of in this way and chooses to fight back against a corrupt system. But can a weak, frequently discredited middle-class person defeat a strong, dishonest system?
Vipul Mehta, the director, said in a statement that the narrative of the Lucknow-based, middle-class Pandey family is told in Kanjoos Makhichoos. The characters are sympathetic and believable, and the plot takes a very realistic approach. The film's comedy is authentic as well. Their movie focuses on the tale of a combined, close-knit family in this age of nuclear metropolitan families. Jamnaprasad, the main character, is a miserly character who would win the audience over with his miserly ways. Since his first series, Koshish Ek Aasha aired on Zee, and because his Hindi debut feature, Kanjoos Makhichoos, is also debuting on ZEE5, he says that his relationship with Zee has been long-lasting.
While Kunal said that as total mass entertainment, Kanjoos Makhichoos is the type of movie he would adore seeing with his family. It is filled with just the right amount of drama, humour, narrative twists, a touching message, and entertainment. Also, the actor enjoyed working with his fellow performers and the entire team because of the positive environment on set. He is sure that his fans and their families will love this flick.
Beginning on March 24, 2023, Kanjoos Makhichoos will only be available on ZEE5.
