Kanguva, the Suriya starrer directed by Siva and Vikram, and Pa Ranjith’s Thangalaan, are the two most anticipated Tamil films of 2024. Both the films were expected to hit the theatres by the first half of the year. However, Kanguva and Thangalaan were delayed due to production issues and are yet to get release dates. The cine-goers, who are disappointed with the lack of updates, have been trolling production house Studio Green, which has bankrolled both films. However, G Dhananjeyan, the producer of Kanguva and Thangalaan, has now reacted to the trolls with an X post.
G Dhananjeyan, who is clearly fed up with the trolls and comments of Suriya and Chiyaan Vikram fans and the cine-goers, recently took to his official X (formerly Twitter) and reacted to the same. The producer of Kanguva and Thangalaan requested the fans to chill, and explained why the release dates are not allowed yet. “I see a lot of posts & trolls regularly on the release date announcement of Kanguva and Thangalaan tagging me. Guys, chill. We understand your enthusiasm but a Producer, who invested hundreds of crores knows when to release his films, to maximise revenues & minimise the risk,” wrote Dhananjeyan in his post.
“Release date cannot be announced to please some & then suffer. It has to be based on economics and opportunity of a good date,” the producer explained. “So please stop advising, criticising & commenting. Do support us when we announce & until then please chill and wait for the official announcement, rather than indulging in unnecessary trolls,” concluded the Kanguva – Thangalaan producer. G Dhananjeyan’s post suggests that there have been various issues that have been preventing the makers from announcing the release dates of Suriya and Vikram’s films. However, the fans can expect a massive update on both films, very soon.
After the underwhelming performances of big releases Ayalaan, Captain Miller, and Lal Salaam, the Tamil film industry was hopeful about the releases of Vikram’s Thangalaan and Suriya’s Kanguva. The Pa. Ranjith directorial, which was originally expected to hit the theatres in January 2024, was initially delayed due to the post-production works, and later due to the elections. Suriya’s Kanguva was expected to get an April 2024 release but was later delayed due to its extensive VFX works. The delay of the big-budget ventures left the Tamil film industry in a deep crisis, and the theatres are now solely relying on the re-release trend.
