Kanguva, the period action drama that stars Suriya in the lead role, is one of the most anticipated upcoming projects of the Tamil film industry. The project marks the National Award-winning actor’s first onscreen collaboration with renowned filmmaker Siva. As per the latest updates, Kanguva, which features Suriya in a never-seen-before role, is primarily set in a fictional world.

Writer Madhan Karky on creating a new Tamil dialect for Kanguva

Madhan Karky, who has penned the dialogue for Kanguva, recently opened up about building a new fictional world for the movie in his chat with Kumudham. Interestingly, the renowned writer revealed that the team has developed an entirely new Tamil dialect for the Suriya starrer, which is set in a mediaeval fantasy world.

According to Madhan Karky, the makers have imagined a completely fictional world that has different clans, a distinctive culture, and a unique god. The team has even created the smallest details, like the cuisine of this land and how they ‘celebrate’ deaths.

After they got totally involved in this world-building, director Siva and writer Karky felt that it should also have a dialect that was never heard before. In his chat with Kumudham, the dialogue writer also revealed that he thoroughly enjoyed the process of building a new world for Kanguva, even though it was a lot of work.

Suriya’s dedication to his role in Kanguva

Interestingly, Madhan Karky also heaped praise on leading man Suriya for his impeccable dedication to his role in Kanguva. According to the writer, the popular star was very particular about delivering his dialogues with full conviction and worked to hard to learn his lines and the new dialect. Interestingly, Suriya never let the writing team change or alter his dialogue, even though it was a bit too tough at times.

He also revealed that the National Award winner’s hard work is visible in every frame of the movie. Madhan Karky added that the Siva directorial, which is set to hit theatres by the summer of 2024, will be a unique cinematic experience for the Tamil cinema audience.
