Suriya is joining hands with director Siva for the first time in his career, for his next outing Kanguva. The movie, which is touted to be a period fantasy thriller, was slated to be released on October 10, 2024. However, during his recent public appearance at Karthi’s Meiyazhagan audio launch event, leading man Suriya confirmed that the film’s release had been postponed. The National Award-winning actor, who extensively spoke about Kanguva, also revealed the actual reason behind the change in release date.
Kanguva release is postponed, confirms Suriya
The actor-producer, who bankrolls the Karthi starrer Meiyazhagan under his home banner 2D Entertainment, addressed the audience at the film’s audio launch event. As expected, Suriya opened up about his next outing Kanguva and revealed that the Siva directorial is a very special project. He further added that the film is the result of over 1000 cast and crew members’ unparalleled effort. The National Award-winning actor also confirmed that the period fantasy film will not hit the theatres in October, as planned before.
Suriya, who is a big fan of Rajinikanth, revealed that the Kanguva team decided to postpone the release, as they did not want to clash with the superstar’s upcoming project Vettaiyan, which is slated to be released on October 10, 2024. According to the leading man, the team wanted to honor the legendary actor, who has been the face of Tamil cinema for the last five decades, by moving their project to a different date. An official announcement on the Kanguva release date is expected to be made very soon.
Kanguva’s new release date
If the recent updates are to be believed, the makers of Kanguva are now planning to release the Suriya starrer by the end of October or mid-November, 2024. Reportedly, the Siva directorial has high possibilities to have its grand theatrical release on November 14 or 15 of 2024. However, the makers will officially announce the new release date of Kanguva, only after they make sure that the film is getting a solo worldwide release.
