Kanguva, the highly anticipated Suriya starrer has been under production for a very long time. The period fantasy film, helmed by Siva, was initially supposed to be released on October 10, 2024, as an Ayudha Pooja special release. However, the release of Suriya’s film has been postponed, and the new date is yet to be announced. Meanwhile, Kanguva OTT rights for the all-language versions have been bagged by the streaming giant Amazon Prime Video, for a whopping price.
Earlier, it was confirmed that the post-theatrical OTT rights of Kanguva have been bagged by streaming giant Amazon Prime Video. If the recent updates are to be believed, the Siva directorial has cracked the biggest OTT deal in the career of its leading man Suriya, so far. The post-theatrical rights of Kanguva’s all language versions have been bagged by Amazon Prime Video, for a whopping price of Rs. 100 crore. The audience can expect Kanguva OTT release, around 40 days after the film’s theatrical release.
As you may know, Kanguva was originally supposed to be released on October 10, 2024. But the film has been postponed indefinitely now, after Vettaiyan, the upcoming Rajinikanth starrer announced its release on the same day. At the recently held Meiyazhagan audio launch event, leading man Suriya revealed that the Kanguva team has no plans to clash with the superstar’s film. Now, the makers are planning to release the period fantasy action film either by the end of October, or mid-November, 2024.
The Suriya fans, however, are highly unhappy with the multiple delays in the release of Kanguva, which is touted to be the biggest project in the National Award-winning actor’s career, so far. The makers of the period fantasy film are expected to officially announce the release date, along with a new poster or a special teaser, once it is finalised. The Siva directorial is set to get a pan-Indian release in five languages, including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
