The longstanding discord between Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar has been evident for a considerable period. On November 3, Javed Akhtar took legal action by filing a complaint before the Magistrate. He alleged that Kangana Ranaut had tarnished and harmed his "immaculate reputation" by implicating him in actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death during her interview with journalist Arnab Goswami on July 19, 2020. In the most recent development, the Bombay High Court has rejected Kangana Ranaut's plea, which sought a stay on the proceedings related to the defamation complaint filed against her by lyricist Javed Akhtar.
According to news agency PTI – Justice P. D. Naik, presiding over a single bench, declared that the trial concerning Javed Akhtar's complaint had already initiated. Consequently, Kangana Ranaut's request for relief could not be accommodated at this juncture. In the previous month, Kangana had submitted a petition to the High Court, urging a stay on Javed Akhtar's 2020 criminal defamation complaint. Additionally, she sought the consolidation of this case with the cross-complaint she later filed against him.
"The trial in the complaint by Akhtar has already commenced. The applicant (Ranaut) has preferred this application at a belated stage. Akhtar's complaint is first in point of time and process (notice) has been issued. Considering the factual matrix, no relief can be granted," the Court said.
Only time will tell when justice will be delivered in the case.
Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar are yet to react to the development.
