Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut recently sold off her office for her production house, Manikarnika Films, situated in Mumbai. She purchased the property in Pali Hill, Bandra, Mumbai, for ₹20 crore in 2017 and sold it off for ₹32 crore recently. The news about her selling her property surfaced right after the release of her directorial movie Emergency was stalled. In a recent interview, Kangana revealed the reason behind why she had to take this big step.

Why was Kangana Ranaut forced to sell her Mumbai office?

A few days after her maiden solo directorial film Emergency's release was stalled, Kangana Ranaut sold off her Mumbai bungalow which she used as the office of her production house Manikarnika Films. In an interview with News18, the Dhaakad actress revealed the reason behind this decision and said, “Naturally, my film was supposed to be released. I put all my personal property on it. Now that it's not released, so anyway, that's what properties are for – for times of crisis."

For the uninitiated, Kangana's property is situated in Pali Hill, Bandra in Mumbai. She purchased the property for ₹20 crore in 2017 and used it as her office for her production house Manikarnika Films in 2019. This is the same property that came under the scanner in 2020 when parts of it were demolished by BMC for alleged structural violations. The actress claimed that this happened because of the Maharashtra government's hostility towards her due to her conflict with the Shiv Sena.

Meanwhile, Kangana's upcoming film Emergency was supposed to be released in theatres on September 6 but was stalled. She announced the news on her official X (Twitter) account and wrote: "With a heavy heart, I announce that my directorial Emergency has been postponed, we are still waiting for the certification from the censor board, new release date will be announced soon, thanks for your understanding and patience.”

Emergency is a biographical drama that delves into the life of the former prime minister Indira Gandhi and promises to showcase the period from 1975 to 1977 when Emergency was imposed. Kangana plays the role of Indira Gandhi in the movie.
