Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut never shies away from sharing her unfiltered views on any subject. Recently, the actress-turned-politician shared her thoughts on the controversial themes of alcohol, drugs, and violence in songs. She focussed on the collective responsibility of society and revealed she would address this issue in Parliament. Read on for all the details!
While speaking with Agenda Aaj Tak, Kangana opened up about songs that are themed on drugs, alcohol, and violence. When the actress was asked if she would address the issue in Parliament, the actor said that the public also has responsibility for the same.
Kangana said, "Artistic expression is not dependent on anything. Himachal folk music has so many such songs. In art, it's the emotions that matter. To each their own. That being said, when it comes to habits like substance abuse, it is not just the government's responsibility but also that of the general public."
Interestingly, Kangana's comments came after Diljit Dosanjh's debate over alcohol-themed songs. When the global singer was in Hyderabad for his Dil-Luminati Tour, he was asked not to mention alcohol in his songs and not to promote it, however, Diljit, being a teetotaler said instead of this, alcohol shops should be shut everywhere.
During his concert in Hyderabad, Diljit Dosanjh modified the lyrics of his tracks and changed the words 'daaru' and 'theka' with 'coke' and 'hotel', respectively. Even in Ahmedabad, the singer avoided performing any alcohol-themed songs. For the uninitiated, his next stop is Chandigarh on December 14, and Mumbai on December 19, with the India leg of the Dil-Luminati Tour concluding in Guwahati on December 29.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Kangana Ranaut will be next seen in Emergency where she will portray the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film is set to hit the theatres on January 17, 2025.
