Kangana Ranaut, who forayed into Tamil cinema with Thalaivii, is back in the South with another pan-Indian release, Chandramukhi 2. The P Vasu directorial is the sequel to the hit horror comedy Chandramukhi, the remake of Fazil’s 90s Malayalam hit Manichitrathazhu. The actress spoke to the Hyderabad media about the entertainer, which releases in theatres on September 28.

“We’ve all seen Chandramukhi and it’s etched in our memories how horror and comedy blended seamlessly, more than anything done by our contemporary filmmakers or the directors in the West. We saw how so many genres come together so well and it continues with Chandramukhi 2 as well. It’s a mix of horror, comedy, romance, action and a musical rolled into one,” she said.

She shared it was an honour to be part of a film where Lawrence (master) plays a double role. I didn’t get to be his (Lawrence’s) heroine but I am happy being Chandramukhi for now, Kangana stated. Her role reportedly starts post interval, before which she talked of scaring audiences with her ghungroos and screams. “I love to do this kind of ensemble films as much I enjoy titular roles and projects where I’m the protagonist. This has been a refreshing experience for me.”

Vadivelu, Radhika Sarathkumar, Lakshmi Menon, Mahima Nambiar, Rao Ramesh play other pivotal roles in the film written and directed by P Vasu. MM Keeravaani scored the music for the entertainer, whose songs are choreographed by Kala, Dinesh, Baba Baskar. The film is produced by Subaskaran under Lyca Productions. R D Rajasekar cranked the camera for the film edited by Anthony.

Chandramukhi 2 in its Telugu version will be locking horns with two other biggies - another pan-Indian film Skanda and Srikanth Addala’s action drama Peddha Kapu 1. Sri Lakshmi Movies is distributing the film across Telugu states.
