The makers of the upcoming Malayalam film, Kanakarajyam, released its trailer a week ahead of its theatrical release. The clip shows a glimpse into this movie’s plot which explores the lives of a former army officer and a young man. It is also loosely based on real life incidents.
On July 5, the poignant family drama, in which Murali Gopy and Indrans play major roles, will be shown on big screens throughout the state. The most recent poster disclosed the release date.
The two-minute video provides a glimpse into the life of Indrans, a retired army officer who works as a security guard at a jewellery store in his hometown. Murali Gopy, in the meantime, is portrayed as an unemployed man who is attempting to get a bank loan for a business project.
When Indran's character becomes unintentionally entangled in the robbery case related to the jewellery store where he worked, his and his family's lives take unexpected turns. The trailer then depicts his attempts to uncover the truth and clear his name from the case. If the character played by Murali Gopy in this case is to be viewed in the movie after it opens.

In a previous interview with Kochi Times, the film's director, Sagar, disclosed that the story is centred around a jewellery theft that occurred in Alappuzha in 2005. Previous works by Sagar include Veekam and Sathyam Maathrame Bodhipikku, in which Dhyan Sreenivasan played the main role.
Leona Lishoy plays Murali's wife in the film. In those scenes, Sagar and his team explain that in order "to give accountability to the comprehensible story," they have opted to faithfully portray the events that transpired and have omitted any commercial elements.
Vinayak Ajith Films Pvt Ltd is the film's producer. The supporting cast includes Dinesh Prabhakar, Unni Raj, Sreejith Ravi, Jolly Chirayath, and Ramesh Kottayam. Most of the film was shot in different parts of Kollam.
