Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming movie Leo is one of the highly-anticipated releases of this year. It's Vijay's first "pan-India" release and this movie has generated a massive amount of curiosity for various reasons. Is this movie part of LUC, which is short for Lokesh Cinematic Universe? — is one of the questions that dominate the discussions around this movie.

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has been very elusive when it comes to answering this question, keeping the suspense alive. However, there have been several clues from the promo videos to suggest that Leo is the new entrant to the franchise, which revolves around the fight between cold-blooded drug kingpins and heroic spies.

The latest buzz is Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan has shot for Leo. It is said that Kamal will have a 15-minute role in the movie. However, an official confirmation is awaited. If it's true, then Leo is, indeed, part of the LCU. Kamal will be seen as a retired spy who is on a mission to end the menace of drug cartels in the country.

LCU began with Kaithi in 2019, which followed the efforts of a newly released prisoner to save the top police officers of Chennai City from the members of a drug cartel. Karthi played the lead role in the movie, which made Lokesh a force to reckon with in the film industry. And Lokesh expanded that cinematic universe with Vikram, which itself was a spin-off from Kamal's 1986 action drama of the same name.

Leo is now in post-production. Besides Vijay, the movie has a star-studded supporting cast, including Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, Sandy Master, and Mathew Thomas among others.

Leo is due in cinemas on October 19.
