Mohanlal is celebrating his 64th birthday today (May 21, 2024). Both the film industry members and the fans are now showering the Malayalam superstar with the sweetest birthday wishes on social media. Kamal Haasan, the veteran actor who shares a warm bond with the Drishyam actor, recently took to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle and dropped a special birthday wish for Mohanlal, leaving the duo’s fans excited. In his post, the Vikram actor wished for Mohanlal to break the prestigious record set by legendary actor Prem Nazir.
The multifaceted legend of Tamil cinema took to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle and penned a heartfelt birthday message for the L2 Empuraan actor. “Lead man for forty years among a very critical and discerning audience. 400 films? Some might exclaim in disbelief. I, on the contrary, am looking forward to him beating Mr. Prem Nazir’s record of 500 films. On his birthday, that is my best wish to him. The best of health to you, Mr. Mohanlal, to break many more records,” reads Kamal Haasan’s birthday wish note for Mohanlal.
For the uninitiated, Prem Nazir, the legendary superstar of Malayalam cinema holds two Guiness World Records: for playing the lead role in a record 725 films in Malayalam and for playing opposite the same heroine (veteran actress Sheela) in 130 films. Mohanlal, who has already completed four decades in the film industry, is currently busy with the filming of his 360th outing in Malayalam cinema.
For the unversed, Mohanlal and Kamal Haasan joined hands in 2009 for the highly acclaimed action thriller film Unnaipol Oruvan, the Tamil-Telugu bilingual. The project, directed by Chakri Toleti, featured Ulaganayagan in the role of an unnamed caller with hidden intentions. Mohanlal played the role of Raghavan Marar IPS, a dedicated Malayali police officer and the DGP of Chennai city, who gets dismissed from the police force, after this anonymous caller, a common man, enters his life.
The Telugu version of Unnaipol Oruvan, which was bilingual, is titled Eenadu. However, Venkatesh Daggubati replaced Mohanlal as the police officer, who is named DGP Eashwar Prasad in the Telugu version, which is placed in the backdrop of Hyderabad city. Eenadu, which also features a different supporting cast, received immense love from the Telugu audience.
