Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan recently shared his inspiration behind writing the lyrics for Inimel, a music video composed and performed by his daughter, Shruti Haasan.

During a discussion with his daughter, Kamal talked about the theme of relationships and their natural cycle of birth and decay. "Ilango Adigal wrote about the making and breaking of a relationship in 'Cilappatikaram' about 2000 years ago: how beautiful a romance starts and how terribly it ends. To date, it's a recurring theme. If anyone talks about an angry woman revolting against injustice, people invoke Kannagi," Kamal noted.

Kamal revealed that he was able to relate to the modern relationship issues that Inimel talks about. "Especially a person like me, who has renounced most of the known traditions. I have always said that for 50 years, clearly, I have lived without God, but I can't live without companionship for more than a few hours," he told Shruti.

Inimel, a big streaming hit

Besides writing lyrics for Inimel, Kamal also bankrolled the music video under his production banner, Raaj Kamal Films International. Inimel is one of the latest music videos conceived and performed by Shruti. Earlier, she unveiled Monster Machine.

However, Inimel was a bigger hit than Monster Machine in terms of viewership. Thanks to Raaj Kamal Films International's strategic promotions and the involvement of director Lokesh Kanagaraj, Inimel was able to find a bigger audience than Monster Machine. Inimel garnered more than 11 million views just on YouTube, compared to Monster Machine's 2 million views.

Inimel discusses the rise and fall of relationships. Even though it's a very familiar theme, the highlight of this song was its lead star cast. This music video was considered Lokesh's debut as an actor as he essayed the role of a man deeply in love with a girl, played by Shruti. The song traces how the couple gradually fall out of love.
