Kalyani Priyadarshan to team up with Joju George, Nyla Usha and Chemban Vinod Jose in Joshiy’s next

Apart from her cameo in her dad Priyadarshan’s magnum opus Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, Thallumaala actress Kalyani Priyadarshan’s films have mostly been with young or relatively new filmmakers. But that will change with her upcoming venture, which will have her team up with veteran director Joshiy.

The movie, which is set to be announced in Kochi on April 14, has the hit filmmaker reuniting with the cast of Porinju Mariam Jose – Joju George, Nyla Usha and Chemban Vinod Jose – with Kalyani also playing one of the lead characters.

Scripted by Rajesh Varma, the film will have Ranadive as its cinematographer and Jakes Bejoy handling the music department. The genre of the film is kept under wraps. RJ Shaan, who had scripted Joshiy’s previous crime drama Pappan, is also part of the film as a creative contributor.

Joju’s Appu Pathu Pappu production house will be distributing the movie, which is expected to hit theatres this year itself. Porinju Mariam Jose, which hit theatres in 2019, was a hit and served as a much-needed comeback for Joshiy. It would be interesting to see what characters the trio of Joju, Nyla and Chemban would be playing in the upcoming movie.

Meanwhile, Kalyani, who was part of Bro Daddy, Hridayam and Thallumaala last year, has wrapped up the shoot of Sesham Mikeil Fathima that has her essaying the role of a football announcer. The actress was recently completing her dubbing for the movie, which is helmed by debutant Manu C Kumar.

The actress would be hoping to continue her successful run with the light-hearted entertainer, which is set extensively in Malappuram, and also has Shaheen Siddique, Sudheesh, Maala Parvathy, Femina, Sabumon Abdusamad and Shaju Sreedhar in pivotal roles. Though Kalyani plays a football announcer, the movie is not a sports drama and focuses on her character’s journey.

The team had recently revealed a new poster of Kalyani’s titular character from the movie, which is expected to hit theatres soon. The movie’s OTT rights have already been sold to Netflix.
