Kalyanam Kamaneeyam is one among the three straight Telugu films that are hitting the screens across the globe this Sankranthi on January 14. Santosh Shobhan and Priya Bhavani Shankar play the leads in this family entertainer, directed by debutant Anil Kumar Aalla. UV Concepts, another wing of UV Creations for small-budget films, has bankrolled the feel-good movie.
The latest update, we hear from the team, is that Kalyanam Kamaneeyam has wrapped all its censor formalities and is certified U by the CBFC. The makers are marketing this as a clean entertainer for the festive season. The film is quite simple, light-hearted and relatable in comparison to the other biggies like Waltair Veerayya, Tegimpu, Vaarasudu and Veera Simha Reddy.
Family entertainers are always a safe bet for Sankranthi and more often than not, have performed well at the box office over the years. While Kalayanam Kamaneeyam may seem an underdog on paper, it can spring a surprise, given its interesting premise surrounding a jobless husband and his working partner. Kedar Shankar, Sapthagiri, Devi Prasad too play important roles in this saga.
The film marks Priya Bhavani Shankar’s debut in Telugu cinema. The actress will also be seen in a Telugu show titled Dhootha, directed by Vikram K Kumar, alongside Naga Chaitanya. Two songs from Kalyanam Kamaneeyam - O Manasa and Ho Egire - have ensured good buzz for the film in the lead up to its release. Shravan Bharadwaj, of Natyam, Malli Raava fame is the music director.
With lyrics by Krishna Kanth, the songs are choreographed by Yash and Vijay Polaki. Raveendar, who worked on films like Radhe Shyam, Ghani recently, is the production designer. Satya G is the editor and Narasimha Raju is the executive producer respectively. Santosh Shobhan’s last release was Like, Share & Subscribe in November 2022, directed by Merlapaka Gandhi.
