Actor-composer GV Prakash Kumar’s adventure drama, Kalvan, hit the big screens today. Directed by cinematographer-turned-director PV Shankar, the movie is about two thieves who are trying to steal something precious from a forest. Kalvan got a positive reception even before its release, and this seems to have continued even after it's in theatres.

Many have appreciated the filmmaker's effort in capturing aesthetic shots of the Sathyamangalam forests and hailed the film’s VFX work. One X (former Twitter) user wrote, “Every shot looks beautiful and aesthetic ! There is not even 1 second of vulgarity in the movie ! Easily the best role for Bharathiraja sir in the past few years !”

Another user noted that the film’s screenplay stood out. “Good plot and story with decent screenplay execution. Conflict between humans and animals was awesome. #GVPrakash and #Bharathiraja performed well. Decent music and background score. Good script with lots of emotional connections. Superb and watchable film. One of the best film in #GVPrakashKumar’s career.”

Although audiences were expecting the film to have a slow pace, the movie did not disappoint with its execution. “Interesting twists and turns kept the story going at a steadfast pace,” another user posted.

The film has got a thumbs up from Tamil cinephiles and is expected to lure more audiences into the theatre in the coming days.
