Nag Ashwin on Kalki 2898 AD being compared to Hollywood movies

In an interview with OTTplay, filmmaker Nag Ashwin reacted to the comparisons drawn between Kalki 2898 AD and Hollywood films like Mad Max and Star Wars. To this, the director said, "We are all exposed to so much content in terms of production design, CGI, and other aspects. Then there’s also the subconscious influence; for me, the whole rusted and aged aesthetic is something that I would have consciously or subconsciously borrowed from Star Wars for sure."

The filmmaker added that Kalki 2898 AD draws more from the present than the future. According to Nag, the film shows an extreme divide between the people. While on one hand there are people who would die for a bite of an apple, the ones residing in the Complex enjoy everything in excess for no reason.

Meanwhile, Kalki 2898 AD's Hindi version will drop on Netflix once its theatrical run ends. What have been your thoughts about this film? Tweet @ottplayapp and let us know.
