Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD beats Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan to become the fourth highest-grossing film in India.

Nag Ashwin's mythological sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD has been setting box office benchmarks since the time it was released on the big screens. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan in the lead roles and has already become one of the biggest hits of the year. The film has surpassed the box office collections of Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, becoming the fourth higest-grossing film in India.
When Jawan starring Shah Rukh Khan was released in 2023, it ruled the box office and minted over Rs. 640.25 crore and became the biggest hit of Hindi Cinema as well as the fourth highest grossing film after RRR, KGF 2, and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. However, Kalki 2898 AD has now overtaken this record by minting over Rs. 640.3 crore domestically and has crossed Rs. 1100 crore mark globally.
On Tuesday, the film completed 41 days in theatres and earned Rs. 15 lakh from its morning and afternoon shows, which takes the total collection of the film to Rs 640.3 crore, thus crossing Jawan's Rs 640.25 crore at the box office.

Earlier, in an interview with Hindustan Times, the director of Kalki 2898 AD spoke about the sequel. He revealed that the work on the second part of the film is happening. "We had shot portions of it in the earlier schedules when part one was being filmed. We shot for about 20 days. But there's still a long way to go in terms of planning and thinking. However, the second part should hopefully take lesser time to complete and release than the first one," he added.
Kalki 2898 AD was released in theatres on 27th June, 2024. The film featured Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, and Kamal Hassan in lead roles. According to reports, the movie will be available on Amazon Prime Video starting on August 23 in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil.
