Kalki 2898 AD was previously scheduled to be released on May 30, 2024. However, due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the date was postponed to ensure a smooth theatrical run. Now, as per a Pinkvilla report, the makers are eyeing the date of June 20 to release the fantasy thriller. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the Pan-Indian project marks Deepika Padukone's debut in Telugu cinema, opposite Prabhas.

Star-studded A-list cast

The sci-fi film will also have stunning visuals, never thought of before in the Indian film industry. Kalki has a star-studded ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Dulquer Salmaan, Rana Daggubati, Anna Ben, Saswata Chatterjee and Gaurav Chopra in pivotal roles. SS Rajamouli and Ram Gopal Varma will also make cameo appearances. Truly, it's going to be a treat to watch these A-listers together, from West to South.

The film is shot both in Hindi and Telugu languages and is considered one of the most expensive projects in the Indian film industry.

Kalki 2898 AD plot

According to sources, Kalki 2898 AD not only delves into the sci-fi genre, but also explores Hindu mythology, following the 10th and final reincarnation of Lord Vishnu.  The film will be showcasing a modern-day Vishnu avatar as an incredible leader. This figure embodies his qualities of protection, benevolence, and determination in the face of contemporary challenges.

Jonathan Nolan’s advice to Kalki 2898 AD team

On April 9, Christopher Nolan's brother Jonathan Nolan sent his good luck wish to Kalki 2898 AD team and Indian films. While promoting his recent film Fallout, Nolan told the Times of India, that the beauty of Indian films is that they project the locations very beautifully, and the stunts look amazing. The one advice he gave is that sci-fi should be filmed in a playful manner. Meanwhile, the Hollywood sci-fi film Fallout, based on the popular namesake video game, is coming soon on April 12, only on Amazon Prime Video.
