Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD is one of the highly anticipated movies. Starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan, the film was supposed to hit the silver screen on January 12, 2024. However, the film's release is reportedly postponed. According to a Hindustan Times report, the makers of Kalki 2898 AD have decided to delay the film's release.
Kalki 2898 AD release postponed?
The media report suggests that the makers of Kalki 2898 AD considered this decision as the film's release was close to that of Prabhas' Salaar, which is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 22, 2023. For that matter, Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki is also releasing around the same time, on December 21.
Since the film has a big star cast and a lot is riding on Kalki 2898 AD, the makers are now looking for a more suitable time for its release. They reportedly wish to avoid it amid the buzz around Salaar and Dunki's box office clash.
A source further told the publication that the absence of promotional content has left everyone wondering about the next move of team Kalki 2898 AD.
About Kalki 2898 AD
Written and directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD also stars Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Pasupathy, and Saswata Chatterjee. While Prabhas plays the role of Kalki, Kamal Haasan will be seen as Kali, and Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwathama. On the other hand, Deepika will be seen essaying the role of Padma.
For those who are unaware, Kalki 2898 AD has been reportedly made on a budget of Rs 600 crore. It is said to be one of the most expensive India movies to be made. The film has been produced by C. Aswani Dutt of Vyjayanti Movies. Having said that, the movie was simultaneously shot in Telugu and Hindi.
