Kalki 2898 AD, the epic sci-fi film directed by Nag Ashwin has already earned the blockbuster status at the box office. The movie, which stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan in the four key roles, has been receiving immense love from audiences across the globe. When it comes to the Kerala box office, Kalki 2898 AD has now reportedly crossed the lifetime collections of leading man Prabhas’ previous outing, Salaar.
As per the recent updates, Kalki 2898 AD has now crossed the Rs. 20 crore mark at the Kerala box office, just within the first 8 days of its release. Thus, the Nag Ashwin directorial has surpassed the lifetime collections of Salaar, the Prabhas-Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer which hit the big screens in December 2023. For the uninitiated, the Prashanth Neel directorial made a total collection of over Rs. 17 crore from the Kerala box office, within its lifetime run.
While considering the extraordinary performance of Kalki 2898 AD at the Kerala box office, it is safe to assume that Nag Ashwin’s film might surpass the lifetime collection of SS Rajamouli’s RRR, in another couple of days. For the uninitiated, the Ram Charan-Jr. NTR movie collected over Rs. 25 crore from the Kerala box office within its lifetime run, and is currently the second-all-time highest-grossing Telugu film in the state.

Baahubali 2, the second installment of SS Rajamouli’s franchise remains the all-time highest-grossing other language film in Kerala. The Prabhas-Anushka Shetty starrer made a whopping collection of over Rs. 73 crore during its lifetime run at the theatres. As reported earlier, Kalki 2898 AD is supposed to get an extended theatrical run till the end of August. The OTT release of the Nag Ashwin film is reportedly postponed to September 2024. In that case, the movie might succeed in breaking the record of Baahubali 2 at the Kerala box office.
