Kalki 2898 AD, the epic futuristic sci-fi film directed by Nag Ashwin has been performing extremely well at the box office. When it completed the first weekend of release, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone’s film collected over Rs. 500 crore worldwide, and around Rs. 300 crore at the all-India box office. Even though Kalki 2898 AD has been performing exceptionally at the Kerala box office, the multi-starrer failed to beat the first-weekend collection record set by Baahubali 2, the 2017-released film directed by SS Rajamouli.
As per the recent updates, Kalki 2898 AD has been performing exceptionally well at the Kerala box office, so far. The Prabhas starrer, which has been majorly released in Malayalam and Tamil languages in the state, has collected around Rs. 4 crore on its first Sunday at the box office. It is indeed a fantastic Day 4 collection for a dubbed film in the state. The total first weekend collection of Kalki 2898 AD at the Kerala box office, has reportedly collected over Rs. 12.7 crore.
However, Nag Ashwin’s film failed to beat the first-weekend record set by Baahubali 2, which remains the highest first-weekend grosser in Kerala, among Telugu films. The SS Rajamouli directorial had collected over Rs. 14 crore within its first weekend at the Kerala box office. However, if things proceed at the same rate, Kalki 2898 AD might be able to surpass the lifetime collection of Baahubali 2 in the state, within its lifetime run.
