Suriya and Karthi, the popular stars and real-life brothers, have not shared the screen in a film, yet. After a very long wait, the talented actors are reportedly planning to team up for Kaithi 2, the upcoming fourth installment of director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s action cinema franchise, LCU. Karthi, who recently attended the audio launch event of Suriya’s highly anticipated film Kanguva, dropped a major update on the same during his speech at the event.
Karthi, who attended the Kanguva audio launch event at the Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai, on October 26, 2024, impressed the audience with a heartwarming speech. The Sardar actor extensively spoke about his elder brother Suriya’s passion for cinema and unmatched dedication to his craft. The proud brother further added that the National Award-winning actor always pushed his boundaries as an artist, and recalled witnessing his performance on the sets of Aayitha Ezhuthu, in which he worked as an assistant director.
Later, Karthi made a big revelation, which left the audience extremely excited. The talented actor revealed that he is set to return as Dilli in Kaithi 2, next year. “I have to meet Rolex in person,” said the celebrated actor to the much-excitement of the cinephiles. With Karthi’s big revelation, it is now safe to assume that Suriya is indeed returning as Rolex in the upcoming Lokesh Kanagaraj. As the director revealed earlier, Kaithi 2 is expected to be a ‘peak’ LCU film, which will feature all main characters from the universe, in pivotal roles.
As you may know, Karthi played the central character Dilli, an ex-prisoner who tries to drive poisoned police officers to a hospital, in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s second directorial venture, Kaithi. The actor delivered a fantastic performance in the film, and Dilli remains one of the most loved characters of his acting career, so far. Later, he made a voice appearance as Dilli once again in Vikram, the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial, which featured Kamal Haasan in the lead role. Kaithi is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, Sony LIV, and OTTplay Premium.
Suriya made a cameo appearance in post-climax scenes of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Vikram, as the super villain Roles. The National Award-winner instantly became a crowd’s favourite with his distinctive look and out-and-out negative avatar, and the cinephiles are urging the filmmaker to create a standalone film with the character Rolex. Vikram is currently available for streaming, on Zee5, Disney+ Hotstar, and OTTplay Premium.
