Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham on OTT: Premakkathu Pattu sums up the reason to watch Basil Joseph’s moving film

Though actor-director Basil Joseph surprised the audience with his turn as a dependable hero in family entertainers such as Paltu Janwar and Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, few would have expected him to put on such a powerful performance in his latest movie Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham.

The movie, helmed by debutant Muhashin, released in theatres last month during Eid along with Soubin Shahir’s Ayalvaashi, Tovino Thomas’ Neelavelicham and Lukman Avaran’s Sulaikha Manzil.

The latest track from the Basil Joseph-starrer, which also has Siddique, Fara Shibla, Indrans, Sreeja Ravi, Jaffer Idukki, Parvathy R Krishna and Binu Pappu, sums up the reason for streaming the movie, after it releases on Sony LIV on May 19.

Set during the pandemic lockdown, the film revolves around the series of struggles – personal and professional – that its protagonist Bachu aka Basheeruddin (Basil) has to endure during the period. Bachu, who dreams of making it big in his hometown through various entrepreneurial ventures, faces a roadblock that finally has him sacrificing his dream and agreeing to travel abroad. But tragedy strikes and Bachu has to now step up to ensure that his mother’s wish is realised, amid seemingly impossible odds during the lockdown.

The song Premakkathu Pattu, which is written by Muhsin Parari and composed by Govind Vasantha, showcases the struggles Bachu’s family has to go through during the trying times. It also shows how Bachu learns to see the silver lining and prod on.

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Muhashin told us that he and the film’s scriptwriter Harshad wanted to ensure that the audience focused on its story for its emotions to reflect. “If this movie had a superstar in the lead, it would have run in his name. When that happens, the movie becomes more than the story. We had in fact prayed that this movie won’t have a star as we wanted people to focus on the story alone,” he said.
