When Kannada cinema’s Chinnari Mutha Vijay Raghavendra first spoke about Kaddha Chitra, he was quite excited about it because even though he had done a similar role in the past, this time around, it had a twist – there was a grey shade to the character. Unfortunately for the actor, the release of the film could not have come at a worse time. The film is releasing just over a month after he lost his wife, Spandana, who succumbed to a heart attack in sleep , during a family holiday. Vijay, who had some acting commitments, had only just joined Spandana in Bangkok, when tragedy struck.

Release date

Kaddha Chitra, produced by Sandeep HK and Suhas D for Shanvi Talkies, will release in theatres on September 8. The film has been directed by Suhas Krishna. Kaddha Chitra is Suhas’ debut film.

Trailer & plot

The trailer of Kaddha Chitra was released on August 26 and follows Vijay Raghavendra’s character, Vijay, a popular author’s brush with plagiarism. How he deals with the allegation of having plagiarised and the outcome of it on his personal and professional life forms the crux of the narrative. At the trailer launch, Vijay had said that although he was a tad apprehensive about playing a character with grey shades, he took up the film as he was not keen to let go of a good project and team. The film explores the rise and fall of his character, Vijay, but according to director Suhas, there are a bunch of conflict points and crime too, which makes the film fall in the thriller genre.

Cast

Namratha Surendranath plays Vijay’s wife in the film. “Behind every successful man, there is a woman and I play that character,” she said. Also on the cast are Raghu Shivamogga, Balaji Manohar, Baby Aradhya, among others.

OTT partner

Kaddha Chitra does not have a streaming or digital partner on board just yet. We will update this as soon as the team finalizes post-theatrical rights.
