Going by the current buzz in the industry, one could assert that R. Chandru's Kabzaa is the next big pan-India export from the Kannada Film Industry. The film, which stars Real Star Upendra in the lead with Shriya Saran, Kiccha Sudeep, and others, too, playing important roles, is all set to release worldwide on March 17th, 2023, not just in Kannada but in multiple other Indian languages. Many industry trackers believe that Kabzaa boasts the canvas and temperament that one associates with a magnum pan-India film today. And although the film bears a stark resemblance to the tone and visual template of Prashanth Neel's KGF movies, director/producer R. Chandru believes that Kabzaa is not KGF 2 in any manner.
"Hats off to the KGF team for pulling off such a spectacle: be it the way the film is shot at Hollywood standards, the production design or the fact that they all had the courage to invest such a big amount. When I watched KGF, I had sleepless nights but in a positive way because it made me wonder why I can't do something like that. So, yes, KGF is definitely an inspiration but Kabzaa is not KGF," said R. Chandru in a recent media interaction.
As far as Kabzaa's upcoming release is concerned, R. Chandru & Co. are gearing up big time by bringing several reputed distributors on board to guarantee the widest release across the country and beyond. At the same media gathering, the director/producer said that team Kabzaa is yet to zero in on the distributors for the Kannada version and that a final decision will be duly made. In the same vein, he added that Kabzaa Hindi will be distributed by Anand Pandit of Anand Pandit Motion Pictures, the Telugu version will be distributed by Sudhakar Reddy and Bombay Ramesh will be handling the distribution of the Malayalam version of Kabzaa. For the Tamil version, the team is currently in talks with Lyca Productions and one can expect a formal announcement to be made at the earliest.
"There are multiple agencies interested in Kabzaa Tamil but it will be Lyca Productions, most likely, to come on board," said R. Chandru. Kabzaa is meant to release in 9 different languages including Marathi, Bengali and others but the makers are yet to finalize the distribution strategy for the same.
