The shooting of the film Kabuliwala, directed by Suman Ghosh, is going on in Kolkata. With Mithun Chakraborty in the lead, the film attracted a lot of interest over the last few months. Abir Chatterjee and Sohini Sarkar will be seen playing important characters in the film and child actor Anumegha Kahali, who became a household name after her performance in the serial Mithai, will play the little child, Mini.
The production house had been thinking about where the outdoor shooting location would be. Initially, it was heard that some parts may be shot in Afghanistan. But the makers cancelled the idea, given that country’s political turmoil. Countries like Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in West Asia were also considered. But some reports have emerged that Mithun is concerned about his health issues and hence, not really keen on shooting abroad. Hence the outdoor location has been finalised as places within the country.
A source claimed that the outdoor shooting will take place in Kargil. That part has geographical similarities with Afghanistan. After a long time, a Bengali film will be shot in Kargil or Ladakh. The makers of the film think that this will be an added surprise for the Bengali audience.
The outdoor shooting is expected to start in the first week of September. The film unit is supposed to reach the location at the end of August. The film is to be released during the Christmas period.
Bengali people have different emotions attached to the screen adaptation of Tagore’s short story, Kabuliwala. Tapan Sinha made the film Kabuliwala, based on Tagore's popular story. Chabi Biswas played the role of Rahmat and Sharmila Thakur's sister Aindrila Thakur played Mini. It is being heard that the story will be contemporised. The shooting of Kabuliwala is in full swing.
