Rumours about director Venu teaming up with Prithviraj Sukumaran and Manju Warrier for a multi-starrer has been going around for years. But recently, the Carbon and Munnariyippu director confirmed that project, which is titled Kaapa and also revealed its cast and crew.
In a recent interview, Venu revealed that his project will have Prithviraj, Manju, Asif Ali and Anna Ben in lead roles and that it will be a gangster film set in Thiruvananthapuram. Writer G Indugopan will be scripting the movie, which will have Sanu John Varghese as the cinematographer.
Venu’s previous full-length directorial was Carbon, which had Fahadh Faasil and Mamta Mohandas in the lead. Recently, he had helmed the segment of Rachiyamma in the anthology Aanum Pennum. Asif and Parvathy played the leads in the featurette.
Prithviraj and Manju Warrier had earlier teamed up in films such as Pavada, in which the latter played a cameo, and the former’s directorial debut Lucifer, where they didn’t share screen space. That itself would make Kaapa worth the wait.
Meanwhile, Prithviraj will also be part of another script co-written by G Indugopan. The movie titled Vilayath Buddha, which is based on Indugopan’s book of the same name, is directed by Jayan Nambiar and has Prithviraj playing a smuggler named Double Mohanan.
The Malayalam star is currently busy with his second directorial Bro Daddy, which has Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Kaniha, Meena and Unni Mukundan as part of the cast. The movie is scripted by Bibin Maliekal and Sreejith N, whose directorial debut Oru Thekkan Thallu Case in again based on G Indugopan’s literary work.
