Maharaj (2024) marked the acting debut of Junaid Khan, the son of Aamir Khan. Recently, the newcomer has openly discussed his upbringing and the experience of growing up with divorced parents. Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta's marriage lasted 16 years before they divorced in 2002.
In an interview with Vicky Lalwani, Junaid expressed that his parents' divorce was positive. He was likely eight years old when his parents divorced. However, they never gave Junaid and Ira Khan the opportunity to fully experience the divorce. Until he turned 19, he had never witnessed a fight between them. Without fail, they consistently... They treated Junaid and his sister Ira as one cohesive entity. In the young actor's opinion, they succeeded in that regard. It seemed like a responsible thing to do for him. At least his upbringing was happy, as his parents managed to resolve their differences and remain together.

Furthermore, Junaid revealed that he and Ira consistently set aside time for each other. He thinks it's fantastic. After her marriage, they meet up quite a bit. All of them reside within a hundred meters of one another. They meet frequently as a result. Every Tuesday evening, the family of four gathers for tea, but sometimes one or more is absent. That has been their practice for some time now, and they have many meetings.
Another topic that Junaid covered was his father's "evolution" through the years. He believes that every superstar, including himself, evolves into a better version of themselves over time. Aamir is showing signs of wanting to spend more time with them as he gets older. 'Papa, please...' is a common reaction, although there are also positive instances. Generally, it's a positive response.
Family surrounded Junaid growing up, and he never felt the absence of his parents' togetherness. Personally, he doesn't think he missed it so much. Aamir used to be a regular, so he wasn't completely absent. In fact, there were times when he would say, "It's okay, don't come..."
Despite Aamir’s divorce from Reena Dutta and later Kiran Rao, the family has continued to maintain a strong bond. Aamir’s children, Junaid and Ira, have grown up in a loving and supportive environment, with their father playing an active role in their lives. As Junaid said, his parents’ decision to part ways was a mature thing to do, allowing him and his sister to have a joyful childhood with both parents.
In terms of his career, Junaid will next appear on screen alongside Khushi Kapoor, Sridevi's daughter, in Loveyapa. Later this year, he will also feature in a film alongside Sai Pallavi.
