The year 2021 wasn't among the best for Shah Rukh Khan and his family, as his son, Aryan Khan, found himself in the midst of a drug case for which he was even imprisoned.
It was then that actor Juhi Chawla proved that she is not just a fair-weather friend to the Pathaan star. She not only stood by the Khans but even signed a Rs 1 lakh bond that secured Aryan's release.
In a recent interview with News18, Juhi got candid and said that she rarely gets to meet Shah Rukh these days, but that didn't stop her from stepping up for him when the circumstances demanded it.
Recalling what it was like when she signed the bond for Aryan, Juhi said, "We didn’t know it was coming. But when it all came down to that moment when I could help, I thought it was the right thing for me to do: to be there for him."
Aryan was among 20 people arrested in October 2021 from a cruise ship off Mumbai. Drugs had been found on some of the people who were arrested with him.
In March 2022, the Narcotics Control Bureau found that Aryan was not guilty in the drugs-on-cruise case.
Juhi and Shah Rukh are the co-owners of the Kolkata Knight Riders IPL team. Describing how she felt when the title track from their 2000 film Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani was played at the stadium during a recent IPL match at which her team played, Juhi said it was a "momentous occasion".
