The final release date of SS Rajamouli's RRR has been finally announced. Featuring Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles, the much-awaited multi-lingual film is slated to release on January 7, 2022. RRR also stars Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris in supporting roles, while Ajay Devgn is in an extended cameo appearance. The makers dropped a new poster along with the confirmed release date of the film.

Interestingly, RRR will be clashing at the box office with Alia starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film is hitting the big screens on January 6, 2022.

The film is a fictional tale of Indian revolutionaries in the 1920s. The film has Jr NTR playing the role of Komara Bheem who is a Gond tribal leader from Telangana fighting for the liberation of the Hyderabad State against the Nizam of Hyderabad. While Ram is seen as Alluri Sitarama Raju, who is an independent activist and a tribal leader from Andhra Pradesh.

RRR also stars Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson and Alison Doody in pivotal roles. The film has been postponed multiple times mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the shoot was also completed during the pandemic by undertaking many safety protocols by the makers.

The film marks Alia's first outing in the South film industry, so does Ajay. RRR has been primarily shot in Telugu but will be released in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam languages.

PEN Studios has bagged the theatrical distribution rights across North India and have also bought worldwide electronic rights for all languages. Meanwhile, RRR is produced by DVV Danayya of DVV Entertainments.
