Directed by Devashish Makhija, the thriller will be shot primarily in Jharkhand and Mumbai and will focus on the city's darker corners. In the film, Bajpayee plays a father who must flee with his daughter across half of the nation to protect her from the spirits of his past and forces that want him killed at all costs.

The movie reunites Bajpayee and Makhija after their short movie in 2016, titled, "Taandav" and the critically acclaimed 2020 feature "Bhonsle," for which the “The Gangs of Wasseypur” star won the National Award for Best Actor.

"Joram" is produced by Zee Studios as well as Anupama Bose under the banner of Makhijafilm.

Apart from Joram, Bajpayee has several projects in the pipeline. He has movies like Raakh, Despatch, Mughal Road, Campus, and Gulmohar. He was last seen in Dial 100, directed by Rensil D'Silva. The ZEE5 film is a thriller, inspired from the Danish film, The Guilty. The film also starred Neena Gupta and Sakshi Tanwar in the lead roles.
