As the Marvel Cinematic Universe moves in a new direction, which is pretty wild if you look at it, the studio has changed the big bad of the story entirely, leaving us with a lot of questions. Last week turned out to be shockingly surprising because the Marvel bosses made one of the most risky and iconic decisions in years by making Doctor Doom the new big bad of the Multiverse Saga and even giving him a face as Robert Downey Jr. has been recast as Victor Von Doom. Of course, the Iron Man loyalists were shocked to see their favorite hero turn into a villain, and the conversation around the same was rampant. What was also rampant was the discussion as to how the studio plans to get rid of Kang.

Kang's farewell Plans

He Who Remains, played by Jonathan Majors, was the initial big bad of the Multiverse Saga and was introduced in Loki Season 1, followed by Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, and brought back in Loki Season 2. There were glorious plans to make him a Thanos-level threat to the Multiverse, but it turned out that Majors was found guilty of assault charges made against him, and the studio had to immediately fire him from the role. Now they were desperate to move away from both Majors and Kang because that would affect the image. Cut to a year later, we now have Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom taking Kang’s position as the big bad.

But what happens to Kang? How does the studio write him off because a farewell is important, and he cannot be left as a loose end? It turns out they have finally found a solution to that, and it seems like the idea is for Kang to be just gone. The scoop comes from Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez. We had already seen Loki sitting at the end of time protecting the timelines, giving enough time to the friend at TVA to prepare for the war against the Kang Variants. Now, as things have changed and we have seen Season 2 of Loki witness TVA say they have an eye on the Kang Variants, the alleged plan to write him off sounds logical.

The scoop says that we are meant to assume that the TVA dealt with Kang and stopped him from creating havoc even before the war broke out and that there is no way he will affect the multiverse at all. This will technically mean that he will be nothing more than a brief flashback in the future of the MCU. With Avengers: Doomsday, earlier titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, shaping up now with Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom taking Jonathan Majors’ Kang, there is so much anticipation around the same.

The Rumors

However, there has been a tsunami of rumors and speculations since the San Diego Comic-Con Hall H event, and they have all been mostly about Doctor Doom aka Robert Downey Jr. The biggest question is whether he appears in The Fantastic Four: First Steps or not. While in the early draft he had no place in the Pedro Pascal-led movie, things might change with the Hall H announcement. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
