About Jolly O Gymkhana
The film is said to be a dark-comedy entertainer, in which Prabhudheva plays a corpse for most of the film. It is about four women who run a biryani joint and somehow end up with Prabhudeva's character's body. How he got killed and landed up with the women forms the plot of the story. Yogi Babu plays a pastor in the film and Madhusudhana Rao plays the villain. The supporting cast includes Yashika Aannand, John Vijay, Sai Dheena, MS Baaskar, Robo Shankar, and Aadukalam Naren.
Director Sakthi Chidambaram reveals the film’s concept and Prabhudeva’s role
In an interview, director Sakthi revealed that for the first time in an Indian movie, the protagonist will play a corpse for the entirety of the film. “A Tenkasi-based family finds a dead person and is forced to go on a journey that takes them to Kodaikanal. How the family struggles with this unprecedented situation and goes to several lengths to give him a proper farewell forms the rest of the story,” he said. The director also revealed that Jolly O Gymkhana is a dark comedy that will take audiences on a fun-filled ride.
Sakthi, who spent almost three years working on the story, claimed that it was based on actual events that he heard about from a friend in Sattur, which is close to Virudhunagar. He chose Prabhudeva since he is a dancer and has a very flexible body, which was required for the film.
Speaking about the challenges of playing a dead man, Sakthi explained, “It is extremely difficult to play a dead person. One needs to hold their breath for a long time and not blink or move. The role is not as easy as it sounds. Remember Nagesh Sir from Magalir Mattum? I envisioned such a character, but not just for 15 minutes, but for the entire film.” Sakthi has previously worked with Prabhudeva in Charlie Chaplin (2002) and Charlie Chaplin 2 (2019).

The technical crew comprises composer Ashwin Vinayagamoorthy, cinematographer MC Ganesh Chandra, and editor Ramar.
