While we all have been busy waiting for the release of Joker: Folie à Deux aka Joker 2 and are also aware that it is going to be a musical marvel with Lady Gaga joining Joaquin Phoenix on the iconic expedition. But none of us were even remotely prepared for the tsunami of Gotham goodness (are we allowed to call it that?) that came with the trailer of the film that is directed by Todd Phillips. The sequel is no doubt one of the most anticipated movies of the year and the trailer has now given the world an idea of what they are signing up for for. The soul of Joker is intact but Folie à Deux adds a whole lot of music and sync to it. But while all of that is insane and beautiful to look at we all have almost missed massive details hidden in the trailer.

The Secret Batman Villain In Joker 2 Trailer

In case you have been away from fan theories about Joker: Folie à Deux aka Joker 2, and you aren't at fault because everything about DCU and DC Elseworlds has been wild for the past two years, and keeping track of everything is nearly impossible. One of the most popular theories about the Joaquin Phoenix-Lady Gaga starrer said that while the sequel is about the most iconic Batman villain, he will not be the only villain from the Gotham universe in the movie. There will be another villain joining him as a friend and that did ring some bells. Turns out the trailer has now almost confirmed the presence of Two-Face. Read on to know everything you should about the same.

Yes, Two-Face aka Harvey Dent and we are not making this up. Stick to the article further to know more. So in the trailer of Joker 2, we meet Joaquin Phoenix as it opens with voice overs that talk about his crime from the first film and the proceedings. The scene shifts into a car that is carrying Arthur Fleck probably to the court for the hearing. Voiceovers from various people take over. One of those voices mentions a name that should ring many bells in the minds of the nerds, Harvey Dent. This means Harvey exists in Joker’s universe and not just that he is going to be of great help. You ask how?

Well, in a scene later in the trailer we again meet Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur but this time in a courtroom. He is giving a rant to the audience in the court. While the scene stands out this is very much a nod to the fact that Arthur does reach court and will need legal assistance from Harvey Dent. This means there is enough room for the theory to be true. The theory also said that the villain could appear in his pre-Villain era as in before he went completely mad. This makes even more sense.

Who Is Two-Face?

Two-Face is one of the most iconic Batman villains and one who is also a whole lot more vicious than many others. But to let you know how he will be a legal aid to Arthur Fleck in Joker: Folie à Deux, let's go into a flashback. Before Two-Face became Two-Face, he was Harvey Dent and Harvey was a District Attorney for Gotham. Things went into a complete spiral for him as he became Two-Face creating havoc in Gotham. With Joker set in a world where Batman is yet to meet him, Harvey Dent not getting transformed into Two-Face makes sense. It would be insane to see two villains helping each other in a movie about one of them.

About Joker: Folie à Deux

Joker Folie à Deux aka Joker 2 directed by Todd Phillips is a part of the DC Elseworlds and has no connection to James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU. The movie is set right after the event of the 2019 movie that was also directed by Todd. Joker 2 will have Arthur Fleck meet Harley Quinn and unleash their iconic romance that is doomed by their tendency to be the most villainous people. The world is burning but they dance on their tunes and the musical is set to release on the big screen on October 4, 2024.
