Keanu Reeves has created a franchise legacy with John Wick, a series that saw him return to the world of assassins and top-notch action drama after someone killed his dog, the only hope left in his life. The movies have seen a crescendo that has only grown more and more fascinating over the years, adding more people to the fandom. The success of the movies has given the makers confidence to expand the universe into a show titled "The Continental: From The World Of John Wick." However, actor Ian McShane has now voiced his opinion about the same.
Ian McShane, a crucial part of the John Wick film universe known for his appreciated performance, has expressed his disregard for The Continental, calling it a cash grab. The actor revealed that none of the OG cast members were informed about the show, and neither Keanu Reeves nor Chad Stahelski have seen it yet. The comments have now gone viral on the internet, and everyone is discussing them.
As per a Screenrant report, Ian McShane said, “No, I wouldn’t watch it. I have no intentions; nobody - I don’t think Keanu watched it, neither has Chad. It had nothing to do with our movies. It’s just a question of a TV company cashing in on the series and taking the option to [air?]. They never asked us about anything, so why would I be interested in seeing it? I’m afraid their arrogance in getting the show out is beyond me, so I wish them well. I think it’s come and gone, hasn’t it?”
Well, not completely. When The Continental was released, the biggest criticism it received was that it felt like just a stagnant spin-off of a franchise that is about its vertical growth. While there was enough panache, action, and style that were true to the main franchise, the audience expected the show to be a step more than what was already served. But the show only gave less than what was expected. So when Ian McShane says it felt like a cash grab, he does make sense because he has seen the real rise of this material to a good extent.
The three-episode show now streams on Amazon Prime Video, but it still deserves to have more than what it gets. However, now the curiosity is for John Wick 5, and people are waiting for any confirmed updates with bated breath. However, there is also a possibility of a sequel to The Continental, and we hope that the makers smell the tea and serve something much better and more potent.
