All of us are obsessed with that one man who set out to avenge the death of his dog, who was killed by assassins with a bone to pick with him. By the way, the dog was given to him by his late wife. We don't even need to reveal the title for you to crack it, and we are indeed talking about John Wick. The franchise, which has seen four films until now led by the amazing Keanu Reeves, is one of the most revered franchises across the world. Of course, the emotional quotient of this story is high, but even higher is the level of action that keeps breaking records with every single installment. Remember the fourth (2023) film, which has two action sequences spanning close to 30 minutes each while the story keeps moving forward? Well, that is the mettle this franchise holds.
But when you have a franchise that is teaching the world how to make action films, there will be on-set behind-the-scenes stories that will leave us stunned, and even some accident tales that are shocking because the scale is massive and dangerous. One such is when Keanu Reeves, promoting John Wick: Chapter 4, directed by Chad Stahelski, revealed how he accidentally cracked open the head of a stunt artist involved in the movie and how that had him scared. Read on to learn more.
It was during the release of John Wick: Chapter 4 that Comicbook, in an interview, asked Keanu Reeves about the accidents that happen on sets and the actor had a list of them. "Well, I mean, everyone is pretty tired, but it's the best kind of tired. It's like you climbed a mountain now you're resting; like you finished the game and you won. So in terms of accidents, I made a mistake once—I cut a gentleman's head open. So that really f***g sucked (excuse my language). But other than that, oh, one guy got hit by a car. He was in the car, so he had to go to the hospital, but he was okay."
Keanu Reeves added that making John Wick films does come with a bodily cost but he also confirmed that everyone on the sets of the movie takes care of each other, which makes all the difference. "All of this to say: you do have to take care," Reeves cautions. "But it's great that everyone [on set] is watching out for each other. So there's some bruising and aches and pains, but [imitates official PSA announcement] 'No humans were harmed in the filming of this motion picture!'"
Dating back to 2014, when the first John Wick movie was made, Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves have been raising the bar with each film for the past 10 years now. While John Wick: Chapter 4 took the action to higher notches, the biggest mystery now is whether Reeves will return for Chapter 5. The climax of the fourth film is complex and, well, had fans crying. So the next film, if there is one, has a massive responsibility.
All four John Wick movies are streaming on Sony LIV in India, and you can watch them with your OTTplay Premium subscription. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else in the world of streaming and films.
