While there is an abundance of content and too many choices, cinema lovers will always pause when anything about John Wick is mentioned. The franchise, which has branched out into shows and spin-offs, continues to captivate audiences. However, fans haven’t forgotten that there are no concrete updates about the future of the main franchise headlined by Keanu Reeves. The wait is ongoing, and curiosity surrounds the fate of Baba Yaga after we last saw him seemingly leave this world. The makers have been tight-lipped, offering only vague possibilities and opinions from those involved. Now, Keanu Reeves himself has finally spoken.
Keanu Reeves entered the world of assassins as John Wick in 2014, becoming the beloved Baba Yaga in no time. For months, fans have eagerly awaited news about John Wick: Chapter 5, but updates have been scarce. Speaking to Comicbook, Reeves gave fans hope, saying he would never completely rule out a return to the franchise.
“You can never say never, but my knees right now are saying, ‘You can’t do another John Wick,’” Reeves said. “So, my heart does, but I don’t know if my knees can do it.” While his knees might be giving up, his passion isn’t. Fans can expect to see Keanu make a brief appearance as John Wick in Ballerina, set to release in June 2025.
Chad Stahelski, the director of the franchise, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about whether John Wick 5 would happen. “The honest truth is you don’t [top John Wick: Chapter 4],” Stahelski said. “You simply don’t. That’s the end. That’s the deal. That’s where we found closure.”

Stahelski explained that while keeping things in development can be a creative exercise, making another film would require a completely different storyline. “Jesus, in the last three years, I’ve already had three or four versions of a John Wick 5. They were different ways to crack the story, but it’s almost a mental exercise for me,” he added.
“It would not be part of that [John Wick: Chapter 4] storyline. As far as Chapter 4 goes, we’ve peaked. That’s my apex. We ended it. It’s a complete story. I watch it now and feel very happy about it, but we wouldn’t try to outdo it. It’d have to be a completely different storyline.”
